I like this message, but you didn't even take it far enough. If one is "Hungering" & "Thirsting" after righteousness, it is as though they would literally die without it... this IS SO for some of us. There is no food; no drink - that can sustain us any-longer. Only the righteousness of Truth. This is very Real.

Could he not just have meant what he literally said? In other words couldn't he simply be saying that people who live in poverty and hardship are blessed? Why does it have to mean this whole other thing? Jesus says on multiple occasions that he prefers the poor, why should this be any different?
