Case Description:

Renubala Kumari, a local of Village: Danto, District: Bokaro, Jharkhand, was completely unaware that a bank employee was attempting to defraud her of her savings.

She intended to invest a certain amount of money in a fixed deposit, but Jharkhand State Gramin Bank officers purposefully diverted some of the funds from fixed deposits to the issuance of insurance policies in order to meet their insurance sales targets.

On receipt of the policy documents, she questioned why she was receiving a separate document rather than the typical fixed deposit receipt, but she was misinformed even then.

She discovered the truth about the issuance of an insurance policy in her name when a friend saw the policy documents and informed her that her money had not been invested in any fixed deposit but rather in an Insurance Policy in which she is required to continue paying premiums of Rs. 50,000.00 every year for 7 years and that she will have to wait 15 years to realise the full benefits available in the policy.

After coming to this realisation, Renubala Ji questioned the bank employee, who acknowledged that the investment was in an insurance policy but persisted in leading her astray by giving her all the false information.

In response, we advised Renubala Ji to expose the dishonest bank employee and videotape her in her workplace, ensuring that she receives the proper punishment thus deterring other dishonest employees from committing the same wrongs.
