This Hitchcock Chord was named after Alfred Hitchcock, but its iconic use came from his composer, Bernard Herrmann. In music theory terms, it’s a Minor(Maj)7 chord.
That’s a minor triad, with an added Major 7. In this case, A minor with a G# on top. It’s tense and mysterious and also used in Spy Movies.
But, you could also use it as a full-orchestra hit for a jump scare.
