It's the Piazza, pronounced like 'Pee-at-za'. It's undergoing a £10mil update. Revisit once it's done. I'm from Huddersfield, it is a shit hole, kirklees Council has ruined the whole area!

As a proud man from Huddersfield the town has a special place in my heart. It’s not our fault that the council has mis-spent millions over the past 20 years and not invested anything in the town. Now we’re starting to get trickled a bit of the HS2 money to renovate the centre. Hopefully they can keep the rents low enough to attract start up businesses to the centre as that’s the main factor in shops starting and failing. Thanks for visiting some of the sweet spots though!

I went to Huddersfield Uni around 2006 and it was awesome honestly. The town used to be super lively...but hella towns went downhill after the plague.

90s and earlier 2000s Huddersfield was a lovely town vibrant & busy enjoyable day & night..Beautiful architecture.

The council are what makes it the worst place to live. They are great at making everything look great, but underneath that it's disgusting. The roads are disgusting, support from them for anything is disgusting. Kirklees council do not care about their citizens at all.

as a huddersfield resident i can confirm some places in huddersfield are absolute shite like fartown or dalton but places like neverton and lindley are alright

I've lived in huddersfield all my life and I can tell you the town centre is a toilet I go to halifax of leeds to shop the council has raped/pocketed or waisted all the money owt of it. I wouldn't recommend anyone comes to huddersfied to shop there is next to nothing left.

I live in holmfirth, work out of Huddersfield ambulance station, so spend far too much time In the town centre due to this. In which I wouldn’t dream of going into the centre for anything if I have to now. The council have ruined it all, and unfortunately it’s spreading out from the town. Will only get worse. Used to be great, and the night life used to be banging, ghost town even on a Saturday night now.

20 years ago, they were redeveloping the centre, and they still haven't finished... There are some beautiful buildings there but everything does go downhill from the train station in every sense.

I agree, the town centre is very underwhelming, but the areas around the centre are often beautiful. So many pretty and quiet (and busy) places within a short journey from the centre.

Huddersfield used to be a lovely town to shop in. Very nice shops in the Byrom Arcade. So sad that it’s deteriorated in such a small amount of time.
