Shed 17 is a crazy and very well written story.
For context, Thomas was originally a kid living in Sodor with his family. He was facinated with trains and friends with everyone. But one day, he got rolled over by a train, which was a total shock for the Island, but mostly for the family. His father and grandfather decided to bring him back from the dead by using a technology called Biofusion, a technic that allows human being to be fused with machineries, especially engines. After years of attempts, the family of Thomas managed to bring himl back to like in a form of a tank engine. Later on, The fat controller (who is a Fat bastard in the fan story) decided to make a buisness of this biofused technology, resulted in the series of tank engines (calld engine freaks) we see in the cartoon serie.
In the video, Thomas discovered that he was a clone like many others and he went insane afterward, revealing his fleshy body hidden in the tank. He then got several surgery interventions in orfer to become a human again, resulting in the tortured monstrocity we see in the short here. We saw him in episode two, used as a distraction for a experiment that went out of control.
