One of the most interesting tombs from ancient Egypt is the Nakht Tomb from Thebes.
Nakht was a scribe and Astronomer of Amun and lived during the reigns of Amenhotep II and Amenhotep III. He was wealthy enough to have a richly painted tomb that contained scenes of his achievements in life and desires for the afterlife. These scenes show Nakht and his wife, Tawy, making offerings to Ra. A scene represents a banquet scene. The family of the deceased, in this case, Nakht and Tawy, is being entertained by the musicians and dancers. There is an agricultural scene. Nakht is shown overseeing men who are plowing, sowing, and harvesting the fields. The scenes of agriculture may show the continuation of Nakht’s life in the Field of Reeds. These scenes may metaphorically show an eternal life through the process of farming, and through the seasons. There is also a fishing and fowling scene. Nakht is shown spearing fish and fowl, together with his family. All these scenes are meant to ensure Nakht's happiness in the afterlife and give us clues about ancient Egyptian civilization.
