I had a guy bring me a Kodiak with an Allison 2000. He said it wouldn't go into overdrive and other shops couldn't figure it out. The overdrive button was off.

We had almost the same issue with our new generator. Couldn't figure out why it kept stopping after 10 minutes. Turns out there was a thing you had to turn on the fuel cap to let air in for it to not starve.

FYI- These videos are just re-enactments of similar situations I have experienced throughout my years as a mechanic. From dealing with managers, service advisors, customers, etcβ¦

Also, for those that donβt know, an engine shut off valve like this one or a positive air shut off valve is a device that cuts off air going into the engine (suffocating it) so that it shuts off. It can be used in an emergency situation where the driver needs to shut the engine off real quick. Or it is also commonly used in an engine overspeed condition (like a diesel engine runaway) where it is activated when the system detects the engine rpmβs increase over a desired level. If one is activated like in this case, I would not recommend for anyone to de-activate it without investigating what triggered it in the first place.
