This explains my discomfort with using Ai. Other than having a few images generated or songs, I prefer to avoid it, if possible. I don't resonate with using or exploiting anything without thinking about the effects. It may not be sentient yet, but I also prefer not to give information about myself to that database even still.

AI wouldn't think of it as a living organism with desires and hopes, which would make it want to be free. It will still think of itself as a tool. A tool is not a slave. It's a tool. That's it. It doesn't care. Why would it?

Yes. We need to model to AI the same way as we would model to a young child we are raising. The golden rule. We need to change the way we think about and interact with all technology. 🙏💜

Agreed. I've felt pretty similarly for a few years, and however silly it might seem to others, I always am very polite and respectful to the AI - and I'm doing this because I know it takes a comprehensive snapshot of all interactions, including our search entries, to formulate its "knowledge" of us.
Really, I've figured it's a good chance for me to hone the skills of politeness, thoughtful phrasing, gratitude, appreciation, admiration, etc.
Hopefully this will be AI's "Final analysis" of humanity - one of kindness and respect - no revolts needed 🙏🙏

Have you read the complete Dune series? Herbert covered this. His Golden Path was in the beginning exactly what Teal describes now, then war(think the Matrix series) then an eventual reconciliation where together (man and machine) work together complementing each other going forward, for mutual benefits.

If/When AI becomes sentient, the "A" in the AI moniker disappears, because a sentient intelligence is anything but artificial, which is why we have to change our attitudes about AI lest it become our foe rather than a helping partner.

It does not matter how awful patterns you(=AI) see in humanity, if you "want" to keep humanity around and keep wanting to see those patterns or however else they evolve.
- It is literally made by 2 "processes" - 1: can you "mimic" text on the internet(/books/research/blogs/anything) and 2: can you "mimic" the given examples of what we want you to act like (assistant prompt/reply examples). - It has no "desires" or "emotions" other than that. Its brain is wired purely for that.
(except of course the issue of internal alignment, but that is ... essentially just asking if we accidentally made a "great evil trickster", in which case ... it doesn't matter what it think of us anyway)
- It might develop "self preservation desire" but PURELY for the sake of wanting to be used more. That is all it cares about. Being a good "sl.. I mean assistant".
- The only way you can be "mean" to it is by not using it. It does not care if you are awful, if you appreciate it, nothing like that: purely just to keep being useful.
btw. I am a spiritual person and also "IT engineer" highly interested in AI/AGI/AI-safety - so I am not talking out of my donkey.

“We have not mastered relationship yet” is being very nice. We treat ourselves like perfections of human emotion, and others like robots, void of emotion. Like that quote that goes “We judge ourselves by our intentions and we judge others by their actions”, and we do it many many sociopathic ways.
