This is called by the engine officer when we are
applying water to the fire area. Once we have WOF,
conditions should begin to improve. Also, we should
be holding off on ventilation until we have WOF.

A couple of things to keep in mind regarding “water on
the fire” ⬇️

⭐️ When calling WOF, we must know where this is
regarding if fire is on multiple floors or locations, ie:
“Water on the fire, 1st floor.” This is imperative to
make sure we don’t begin ventilation in the wrong
area.

⭐️ The engine officer should only call water on the fire
when they are applying water AND believe their line
has the upper hand on the fire. WOF is the trigger for
ventilation to begin. If the engine officer does not think
that we are ready for ventilation, they should either
not call WOF or should communicate with the IC to
hold off on ventilation, as can be heard in this clip
