Hawaii is a great place to visit but yeah it would be a nightmare to live there. The only state more expensive than California but unlike California wages haven't gone up much in Hawaii to make up for it. Wages have gone up here in California although they took longer than they should to compensate for the rising costs

The Native and local population is being priced out. More Hawaiians live outside of Hawaii than Hawaii itself. A large contributor to our housing issues is outside investors turning our real estate into vacation rentals.
