66HITS with a safety pilot, they can be a private pilot with no IFR rating if you’re doing simulated imc.

I believe you have to Complete 6 approaches, tracking and intercepting, and holding before you'll have to complete an Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC). You can do these with safety pilot, cfii, or a a Full IPC. Let me know if this is correct.
But it’s easier just to stay current… never know if the weather is going to change!

The question isn’t complete. As you look back just six months if you are proficient beyond six months, but not less than 12 months then you need to do six instrument approach procedures, including holding, and tracking navigation aids. If you are not proficient beyond one year, then you need an IPC.
