after three years of van life, Baja, Mexico has to have some of my favorite views! Not that the US doesn’t… but you have to work a bit harder for them.

iOverlander
This is how I initially scout my sleeping spots. There’s reviews, photos & amenity information that help you decide where you want to sleep! And it’s FREE and works WITHOUT service!
None of this is spon BTW! It’s just my favorite app to use in van life.
Now, I recommend using this app to help you understand the area. Then once you’re comfy, use google earth or drive around or pop a drone up to see if there’s any other spot nearby you might want to check out that aren’t on the app!
Additionally, for stealth camping in small towns/cities as someone who has gotten knocked on by the police a lot in the states, you’ll want to look out for no camping signs. Plus, try not to park in front of someone’s house. Find a dark section by trees or dark houses. I recommend parking at night and leaving in the morning!
For cities in Mexico, the ones I slept in can be pretty noisy at night, so just bring an extra pair of earplugs if you’re trying to stealth camp for the night.

Wow is that a Great Blue Heron?! (Or not.. there are others and all, it is so far away I can't tell!!).
I was lucky enough to see one, it was so amazing. There is a little pretty park with a manmade lake in town and I was out walking, only saw one other person at all (I think picking corn outside of some store that sells deer feed - lol is that corn used for deer feed? I don't know. Just think it is odd.)
There is a parking lot and a turn into that parking lot and it was right there, at the corner of the turn into he parking lot across from where that person was picking the corn..
I at first thought it was a statue, a weird statue in a weird place. I never thought I would see a weird amazing bird like that there! But, I did!!!
As I approached closer, I saw it was not a statue but that bird was alive! I made a turn off before I got to it as to not scare it off, so I walked towards the little lakey area, I sat on the bench and he started walking towards me. I watched him, took pictures too (somewhere on my FB account and my old phone so their lost). But, I sat there on the bench and it walked closer and closer, then walked towards the lake. It was on the other side of the lake when I was going for my walk on the walking trail around the lake/pond. I got avit of a video of it. It seemed to be interested in me just as
