As amazing as the supernatural displays of God's power are, even more amazing is His sovereign use of natural means to accomplish His purposes. It's taken me decades to really appreciate that, but once you see that He is working in everything that happens, every choice that people make, even using the Devil and his forces to accomplish His ends, that is far more astounding! It will lift you up in worship throughout the day and when you see it really come together like we have recently in our community because of Helene, it brings tears of joy, gratitude and amazement. What a mighty God we serve!!

As a confessional Lutheran, the best way I've heard our cessasionist view expressed as we are "Open, but cautious." Also as Pastor Wolfmueller put it once "We know the Lord can do as He wills, but we don't look for him to do as He wills, we look for Him to do what He has promised."

I go to an SBC church but am pretty Calvinistic. One of my primary complaints about reformed churches is they seem to limit God. This is a great message.

Excellent! Well done brother. Just read Thomas Schreiner’s Spiritual Gifts that talked about it just like this also. We may rightly believe that the apostolic sign gifts have ceased, but that doesn’t mean God can’t still do the miraculous/supernatural even today.

YES! THIS! I have a friend down here in South Florida who is one of the pastors of a staunch cessationist Baptist Church. Absolutely excellent in teaching the word, and great church, but it's always tough to have a conversation without me being asked how can I "Objectively" prove the God led me to this or that decision. 😄😄
