He’s advice can apply to so many different areas of work. I remember going to the junky to buy a broken engine to get it to work, so many trips to the scrap yard😂

Yes. The comedian/actor Bill Hader said some of the best advice he ever had (regarding writing scripts) was simply "Make mistakes faster." Which is not to say make mistakes intentionally, but to let them happen naturally and get them out of the way. When you find yourself agonizing over something during the learning process, just do it and learn.

Built my first guitar at 16! Got the wood from my aunt that worked at a funature assembly shop and it was literally scrap wood! That guitar got me a job building custom guitars worth more than i could have imagined! Gotta start somewhere

I built a accoustic guitar out of pallet wood and oak. Hand planes, jigsaw and table saw and a router. Was one of the best projects of my life. 7 years later still in great shape and playable.

Built my first parts caster 4 years ago at 50. Playing better guitars than I ever have. Certainly busted my personal myth that only vintage guitars sound good and only the rich and rock stars can afford em. Though I probably could have bought one good one with all the money I spent on Luthier tools. Still a better investment in the long run. My guitars are better to me than the custom shop. Because I am in complete control of every aspect. Very personalized. By the way I saw the 5000 year old spruce top acoustic. Very beautiful build

This explains why his instruments are so overpriced but still sound mediocre
