Vacation 2021 with MSC cruise lines.
MSC? Carnival? Royal Caribbean?
Vacation 2022 was a success! We tried MSC cruise lines for the first time. Usually we do Carnival cruise lines but there was a deal going on so we decided to try MSC. Disney is out of the picture because you have to take out a loan to sail with them. We've been on several cruises to many different places but this is the first time sailing MSC. Haven't tried Celebrity or Royal Caribbean yet but after sailing MSC, we are defiantly going t explore other options. 7 day, 4 stop cruise to not Ohio. After servicing all the cars, I made sure we wouldn’t have any issues traveling. Fresh Valvoline oil and a hint of Hotshots Secret FR3 additive. I mixed a few gallons of E85/corn together with some Marvels Mystery Oil to clean those fuel injectors while we worked our way south. I was hoping for 28 to 30 MPG but the mountains on the first part of the trip made sure we didn’t hit that. We started our journey leaving Ohio after working a full day. That was a mistake because I was already tired. We jumped in the ol Subaru Outback and headed south to Columbus to drop of the dogs at the grandparents house. By this time is was dark and getting late. We left Columbus and headed for West Virginia. Nothing but toll roads and hills. Virginia was just as bad. Once we crossed into North Carolina, the land flattened out and I was able to set the cruise and let that 2.5 boxer sing. I wanted to stop at the NASCAR hall of fame but it was like midnight and I figured they weren't open. I would love to spend a week down there and check out all the race teams. Joe Gibbs, RFK, Penski, Hendrick, Jr, Trackhouse, 2311, Front row, all the shops I can tour. Plus check out Charlotte motor speedway. After North Carolina, we crossed into South Carolina. This is where I started to see palm trees to my brain went into vacation mode. Georgia was the same way. Palm trees and the temp started to climb. We took a nap and met up with my parents. We ate waffle House and continued south. We crossed into Florida and stopped at Buc-ee's. It was crazy busy and we ate am "OK" sandwich. Next was Daytona. I really wanted to stop at the track but we needed to keep moving and by this time I needed to quit driving. We made it to Cape Canaveral or port Canaveral. Just a few days earlier, they launched that new rocket headed to the moon. We made it to our Airbnb and settled down for the night. After 12 hours of sleep, we headed to the cruise port. Here we met the MSC Meraviglia. She was a biggin. The biggest I've been on. We had an issue boarding but we overcame the issue. After got settled into our room, we watched all the safety videos so we knew where to go in case of an emergency. We made our way up to grab a snack from the buffet because out dinner time wasn’t until 8. We set sail and made our way south to our first of 4 stops. First was Nassau Bahamas. Then we headed to Ocean Cay which is MSC’s private island. We had a day at sea then arrived in Costa Maya Mexico. Our last stop was Cozumel Mexico. This is where we got to swim with dolphins. After a long but short week, we ended up back where we started to start the trip home. The Subaru Outback was resting all week and was ready to drive 15 straight hours back home. We drove straight through and only stopped for gas. We made it back home and passed out in bed. It was a good time but we won’t be cruising MSC again.
