Max has been fighting in the UFC for 12 years now. 12 years and fighting his very best now is crazy. He's only 32 years old, going to be 33 in December so a lot of people who have been watching Max for a long time are thinking of the Max 3 years ago and before where he didn't change a lot of his game and strategy and did get hit quite a bit. But ever since the 3rd fight with Volk, Max has changed his fighting style quite a bit. Go and watch his fights with Yair, Kattar, Zombie, Arnold Allen, Gathjie. He has changed his game quite a bit. He's way more patient, takes his time and doesn't put himself at risk as much. A lot of the hits he does take, is never clean either. Ilia will constantly try to walk Max down for the first 2-3 rounds trying to knock Max out and Max will be sticking and moving. By round 3/4 and 5 Max will turn it on and his cardio will take over and he will drown Ilia. Ilia will tire himself out and will get frustrated headed into the championship rounds because he will be in a spot he's rarely in and wondering why he hasn't knocked out Max yet. A lot of fighters say they have cardio but Max only fights 5 rounders and he is the cardio king. Ilia won't have that same punching power in the later rounds and will be far more tired than Max. Ilia is a great fighter but he still lacks experience in fighting tough opponents. Max will most likely win by decision or maybe even get a KO. Max even stated in his interviews that for most of his career he wasn't focusing on knocking guys out but having more output and punching at 70-80% but in his last fights he has trained heavily on punching with more power and he has 2/2 in KOs in his last 2 fights.
