It’s a shifting technique for big old trucks or very worn transmissions. Imagine double clutch all 18 gears during that 2 minute quarter mile race. Then his manifold temp spiked and his passenger floor fell out…? Manifold temp or EGT gets hot on turbo cars not NAs. A 1/4 mile race will barely raise the temps.

I’m a coach driver in England when I started driving double clutching was part of the job most coaches were manual and some of them were even drivable without the double clutching nowadays it’s all automatic technology moves on, but I still enjoyed doing it in an old classic car are used to own as you say it enhances the driving experience
