The enemy actual tempted Jesus three times, attacking the body 1, the soul 2, and spirit. Jesus had been fasting for 40 days and nights. The enemy in his cunning knew about Manna suggesting that Jesus turn the rock into bread. ( temptation of body ) Jesus replied “ man cannot live on bread alone” 🥶 shut down cold. No food for 40 days, praying so hard. And earnestly Our Lord was sweating blood! ( its a thing, capillaries expand and explode from stress/heat) 2nd Pinnacle of the temple, the tempter asks Jesus to throw himself down that the Angels might come and save him. Tempting his soul, Jesus knew he was important, he didnt need to showboat to gain glory or admiration, the glory he wanted was to glorify Our Father in heaven. 3rd temptation Satan offers Jesus the world and all its kingdoms all he need do is bend the knee and worship him…trick as old as Satan himself. Jesus came from heaven, he knows already the splendid awe of living without sorrow or sin/pain/anxiety, “get behind thee Satan, depart from thee. Reading the word has shown idolatry is by far the worst sin in Gods own eyes, anything that gets put before God becomes an “idol” you worship that more than your creator. I imagine Jesus was fuming at this, begone.
