Melatonin supplements are commonly used to improve sleep quality, especially in cases of insomnia, jet lag, and shift work sleep disorders. It can be helpful for people who have trouble falling asleep or maintaining a regular sleep pattern.

Genuine question. How many supplements and substances total do you use on a daily basis? Love your videos btw. Very informative and helpful.

Do you think it would be overall better and healthier to maintain routine/habits and schedule that allows one to sleep by using the brains own melatonin production? Signalling to the brain to slow down or stop melotonin production would lead to more insomnia long term. much love

if you take melatonin too often your body will get used to it and stop producing as much melatonin on it’s own (aka you’ll gain a tolerance to it). so you should only really take melatonin when it’s necessary! don’t take it everynight if you can avoid it! there are other healthy ways to make your body promote more melatonin on it’s own such as excersizing regularly, having a more consistent sleep/wake cycle (circadian rhythm), avoiding bright screens at night (the blue light in our screen’s blocks melatonin production! so does the blue light in the sun! blue light glasses can help slightly but it’s not a great solution), having a nightly routine so your body is triggered to know you’re going to sleep soon, having a designated sleeping space, having a cool sleeping space, yoga, meditation, something calming, etc. even big dinners with lots of carbs/tryptophans can cause our bodies to produce melatonin and make us sleepy! you don’t need to rely on a supplement every night to sleep, it’s a great tool to use sometimes but be careful everyone! if you’re really struggling to sleep despite doing all these things you should probably consult a doctor about it first before turning to taking melatonin everynight because it might be a sign of other underlying problems…
