Jagjit Singh Dallewal is a prominent farmer leader and convener of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) in Punjab, India. He has been at the forefront of the ongoing farmers' agitation, known as "Kisani Andolan 2.0," which began on February 13, 2024. The movement demands a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) based on the Swaminathan Commission's C2+50% formula, implementation of the Commission's recommendations for assured markets, farmers' pensions, debt waivers, and justice for victims of the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence.
In pursuit of these objectives, Dallewal commenced a fast-unto-death on November 26, 2024, at the Khanauri border. Despite his deteriorating health, he has steadfastly refused medical intervention. As of January 7, 2025, his fast has entered its 43rd day, with doctors describing his condition as critical.
