This isn’t a perfect science! There is no definitive signal that someone is lying and of course there are exceptions! All behaviors must be interpreted together, and different groups of behaviors will mean different things depending on the circumstances. Subscribe to Law By Mike for more law and life tips! I just uploaded a new long form video! Check it out by clicking the link above this video's title, and let me know what you think

I’m sweating because I’m nervous of all these lying signs I might be accidentally showing while telling the absolute truth.

So many of these things can easily be explained as a result of being nervous on account of being accused of a crime you didn't commit

The holes reference when he was yapping was such a cool detail. Didn’t know you were chill like that Mike.

This is why I'm screwed. I have social anxiety so I avoid eye contact, I overcompensate by flapping my mouth too much, and I sweat because I am nervous. Profiling sucks.

"Officer, it's gonna seem like I'm lying, but I promise you, I'm just neurodivergent."

The most worrying thing about having ADHD and Autism is that if I need a layer for something I will talk too much and look around a bunch because I'm stressed out even though I didn't do anything

This is why people with Asperger's Syndrome are often accused of lying even though they are overly honest

All of these are signs of stress. A person could equally be stressed if they've been accused of something they didn't do, especially if they also have autism, an anxiety disorder, ect

I'm autistic, so eye contact for me is random, and I also have poor homeostasis. These aren't definitive ways to tell if a person is lying.

As a person who sweats too mucn, has bad communication skills and avoid eye contact under normal conditions...

I think I'm straight up getting that sentence.

I used to get accused of lying a lot when I was little because I'm a normally definitive person, so when I tell a story in general I give all information I know which makes people think I'm lying, so I usually have another person near or with me to back up my story

I sweat when I am in an uncomfortable situation, which court would be. Talk too much to make sure you dont understand something wrong and struggle with maintaining eye contact by default.

Time to lock me up

My neurodivergent self just realised I must seem like I’m lying all the time, when I really just have social anxiety. 😬

No eye contact, guilty! To much eye contact, guilty!
