I like SMA (tiny, secure, low loss at VHF/UHF) but I'm in the minority. There are definitely too many choices. "We like standards. That's why we have 15 RF connector standards." All the serious hams use BNC. I hate adding an adapter because it usually adds 0.25 to 0.50 dB signal loss. That's particularly bad for QRP.

I prefer SMA, but I guess it‘s because most things I do are on the ISM and mobile bands (mainly 4G/5G related stuff).

TNC might be slower to screw but its a lot more firm than BNC. If I could switch from BNC to TNC I would.
