Tamron 20-40mm f2.8 still rules I’m afraid. If you prefer a prime get the Sony 20mm f1.8 and you’ll get far better IQ than the new zoom.

Too short of focal length to compare to 16-35 GM. IMO the GM is a better all in one lens compared to 16-25mm, where most people will end up needing to pair it with the 24-50mm.
But I get it, Sony doesn’t want it to compete with their flagship 16-35mm GM line.
