It’s so crazy that this was one of my favorite expansions and it gets so much hate. I had sooo much fun in this expansion. From what I’ve heard it was mainly the PVE players that didn’t like it and raiders are never happy. I don’t even remember this patch but I guess that’s because I didn’t care about the raids I just PvP’d and it was one of the few expansions that you could get amazing gear and weapons without having to raid at all. It was a dream come true.

It was advertised as a major patch (we used to get raids in those), but we got a selfie camera (a ridiculous feature at the time). It was possible to see for miles away that they didnt have any content to bring to the table and ppl were starved. id say a big issue was how you felt playing an MMORPG alone in your Garrison, leading to ppl think it was dead.

However in BFA there was a nice mount you could get by taking a selfie with a specific rare spawn in the background. Most people tried to kill the rare thinking it dropped the mount but nuuuu, you had to indulge the rare creature's vanity to get the mount.

It should be stated that, that patch 6.1 had this as a major feature. No new raid but selfies. Its a cool feature just disappointing to not get anything other than it new

The amount of time between 6.0-6.2, you could be a new player, level up every class on both factions, and gear them up with mythic lvl while having a life.

An entire patch for a toy, blood elf update and twitter integration, I remember this my disappointment was immeasurable, WoD was such a content deprived expansion it was a miserable experience once you had explored and done the raids there was nothing to do

The selfie camera was great. I still have a photo of me with a train right behind me about to hit me on that one boss.

I mean I love WoD unlike 99% of players and didn't care for the selfie camera but also thought it was cool for those who did like it.

All I remember is Turbo dominating 3v3, balance druids and hunters in 2v2. No new raid tier for 14 months and how quick rogues had become and how dangerous feral could be.
Then the first major update, a selfie camera. Worst xpac ever.

I didn't mind the selfie camera in of itself, but it is a shame it came out during a pretty mid patch which was supposed to be a major content patch. Then WoD suffered from having so much cut content.

PvE players crying in the comments. Draenor was amazing bringing massive changes in PvP mechanics comparing to Pandaria and many other rather experimental changes were also so sick yet left unnoticed because "we want more raids womp womp"

Fun fact about that patch that gets left out,
Before the selfie camera patch and near the end of Pandaria expansion. They had released patches, updating the character models from 2004. That patch was the final race to get updated, the Bloodelfs. So the idea was to embrace the new models as well. But it was lost on most of the community

Patch 6.1 did just three things as "major patch:
It brought in the Selfie Camera
It updated the belf models
And it brought Twitter Integration.
Its not that people overlooked this. Its that people were in rage because something thats not even worth a major patch was introduced as such without anything additional. People expected a Shattrath raid or a new zone, instead they had to keep running Highmaul and Blackrock Foundry for another season
