I almost had to laugh when the city’s concrete team told me the flares of the new driveway apron only needed to be 4 inches thick, despite their own code clearly stating 6 inches on the plans. Thankfully, I was on-site to point this out, and the city was quick to demo the old slab and pour a new one at the correct 6-inch depth.

With a little knowledge, I not only avoided a failed inspection fee but also prevented the risk of a cracked concrete driveway in the near future.
