While trauma is a valid reason to stay in the car when he does before entering the home - there are situations where he needs to endure and prioritise more important matters.

The mans son broke his ankle falling down the stairs, staying in the car and saying "i still have two more minutes left" is not an acceptable response to an emergency. I understand why the wife would want to divorce him.

What if something worse happened and his son was badly injured and had his life on the line, or his wife called for his help because of a home intruder? She bow believes that in those situations her husband won't help her until he has sat outside for 10 minutes.

The husband needs to go to therapy to get professional help before he gets in a relationship. While a married couple should absolutely work together on issues they are experiencing, its not fair for one side to be forced to bear the burden of those issues when the one who has them isnt trying to help themselves

She's lucky she's still alive.

What I want to know is whether or not the wife has tried helping her husband find the help he needs. Obviously, the mental state he's in is not healthy if he feels that way.

Can't help but notice 5-10 min is a loose number range... Which has some implications

OK but if she wants him to get professional help then advocate for that first instead of jumping straight to a divorce. It is always "mental health is important and people have coping mechanisms that are valid" until it's a man that has them

A broken ankle is not an emergency. It's painful, but not lofe threatening.
