I've made a few dipoles for different bands over the years; I about 1999 I had just finished building a TenTec 1320 20m cw transceiver kit, knocked up a dipole,
chucked it over the roof of our house and worked Slovenia with it. In 2018 I made one up to test my newly made 20m QCX...worked a station in Missouri!

100% agree HWDP is the way to go. Simple and effective. Consider use of a balun / unun to reduce RF from the feeder radiating RF. If money is tight, even 76 ohm TV co-ax cable works well as a feeder and use any old wire for the two legs of the antenna. After all, the old hams used anything they had to hand... 73 Pete M0WHT

Love it, and agree 100% a dipole should a first homebrew antenna build! Not only is it easy to build, but it's a very good antenna as performance goes.

Definitely easiest to build and cheap as chips. Use mid quality speaker cable, the twin stuff. Mark the calculated length, cut say 250mm over length and then split the wire into two identical length arms (poles). Start the tuning process with getting a low SWR. Don’t cut to trim, fold back & twist - no need to remove insulation. This lets you lengthen a little if you over shoot. Fiddle about, make mistakes and you soon get the hang. Just don’t be shy about having a go.

Indeed, the center fed half wave dipol is the easiest antenna to build and definitely a good start. The easiest to deploy is probably the end fed half wave. Moreover the EFHW is resonant on multiple bands.
Thanks for your great videos!

Some dodgy fellow has a great video (on this channel) on constructing a doublet - which is a type of dipole, with a balanced feedline. Thanks for the videos!

Im putting up an attic dipole soon, can it be multi band attached to coax?? (not easily is the answer)
