Thank you for not sugarcoating stuff. Some people just want to hype things up to make a commission

Absolutely crazy that the Protech broke like that from a hit with such a light piece of wood. Very disappointing. Less surprised about CJRB, I modified a knife from their parent company Artisan for a friend, and it had terrible soft screw hardware as well.

The problem i have with protechs is usually their edge bevels tend to be uneven and you shouldnt have to but thats easily fixed. Also when ur heattreat is bad either wen its soft ur tips will bend and edges roll not snap and chip, or if theres some burnig of the edge it can cause chipping or snapping but every companie has that problem sometimes from heat treating lage ammounts of blades at a time and usually a sharpening or 2 will fix that from my experienc the reputable companies like protech do good ht. Also hit any button lock that hard and its going to fail. Please dont let this guy turn u off good knives. If theyre in your price range you will be happy with them.

Thank you for making content like this. 50% of the time I have to send the junk back. The curated samples the large knife tubers show are not the same thing they sell to the public.

On the protech while yes dissapointing, the button lock didn’t fail, well it didn’t disengage, it broke. If it didn’t break it would have still been engadged. With that said be sure to buy the lock up type for your type of use, while button locks are cool n fidgety they are not the strongest of lock ups. I have yet to buy a button lock. I like a good a frame or liner lock. I will say the spyderco lockup on the youjumbo I think it’s called a friction lock is quite legit. Happy holidays peeps!

None of those Chinese knives look tempting to me at all just in design, had no idea they sucked that bad though lol. 3/4 of these knife companies could vanish and I would care less.

i think it all depends on what you want your knives for on if you should buy them or not. if you want a good slicer then get somehin like a trm. and if you want something harder use get a hinderer. every knife should be able to handle the jobs it was designed for. not all knives are made for everything and shouldnt be expected to do jobs they went designed for. we all love different knives for different reasons and if you like a knife and it works for what you need it to do then enjoy it. in the long run its your knife and no matter wat u do with it is fine.

Watch out for anything sk5 from cold steel. Man it still hurts to say that but they can't get their heat treat right on sk5... Or it's just junk steel

Who treats their folders like that with normal use? That’s like saying don’t buy a Honda Civic because it handles like crap when I put 10 bags of concrete in the trunk.

Knives are like jewelry. Diamonds and Gold are constantly checked by those buying them for valid and genuine materials. It is unfortunate that knife manufacturing has become a fashion industry, and while Cutting Board definitely relates as having a realistic approach and spending his own money on knives, I would balance the equation by asking why one buys these knives and what their expectations are for use? If they are hard use knives then the results of these tests should be studied before purchasing for sure! If you're collecting for looks or fashion then hard use may be a moot point. 🤔

Why do you think any of those gerbers are made of 1095?
