I feel the same way in my shop. We got 3 engines on the floor right now waiting for install, one is a pentastar, one is a 4.0 wrangler and the other one is a prius. Sometimes we have to pull it and trade when they bring it to avoid the core charge. Small indie shop. I dont think the pentastar is a bad engine but i have done alot of heads and rockers on them

Have you been using the newer style rocker arms on the earlier 2012-18ish 3.6 engines? Heard the newer style fits and doesn't have the needle bearings that tend to wear out. I know the 4 oil galley bolts near the 4 cam phasers can loosen up or even fall out, what have you found the best solution to that, just clean and locktite again?

I’m fine doing long block swaps because they’re easy and pay good. I’ve gotten really good at them.
At the same time, I’m really tired of giving eight to $10,000 estimates to people mainly women between the ages of about 16 and 45 don’t know what it is with that age range that 30 year span but oh my fucking God they don’t take care of their cars most of these cars. The suspension is like one massive pothole from just falling apart.

Pentastar engine sucks I have one outside sitting now waiting on an engine. Other cars are Toyota and Acura and same Maintence wi more miles and they still run

Yes this is definitely a client problem but I still will say as a master Tech I see these Pentatick engines are flawed and are nothing like the 3.8L, 3.3L v6 and don’t know why they steered away from something that was perfectly fine. My van at 160k miles only had to do the reseal on the lower intake plenum and everything else is mint. These engineers know nothing about engines except to ruin a good thing but they think otherwise cuz they have the word “engine” in they name 😂 🤦

Didn't you know that it's cheaper to replace the engine. Than $50.oo ++++ to change the oil and filter.

My Pentastar in my Ram has 220k miles on it and no major issues. Just replaced worn out mechanical parts like the oil cooler, radiator, fuel pump, and ignition coils. I take good care of my truck and it's been good to me.
