Saruman of many colors is simple but worded weird to make sure rules are correct and everything.
Basically, the second card you cast on any turn starts the process. Each time you do this each opponent mills 2 cards. When this happens you get to exile one of the cards from an opponents graveyard and cast a copy of it for free.
Its worded this way so that if for some reason the milling step was stopped or if the stack is loaded with stuff you either wouldnt get to choose a card to exile (therefor unable to play it) or youd have to at least wait until the milling happened respectively.

they do make sense though, just read
lagrella: exile one card from each players battlefield, then when she leaves the battle field return those cards to the battlefield, if a creature is returned to your battlefield it gets 2 +1/+1 counters
sarumon: when you cast your second spell each turn your opponents mill two cards, if at least one of those 2 cards successfully get milled you get to exile any spell from your opponents graveyard that has mana cost equal to or lower than the second spell you cast, then you may cast that exiled spell for no mana cost, yeah they shouldve clarified it a little better but its not that hard to figure out

After reading saruman once i gotta say there is nothing confusing about his ability. Its just a lot he does but u find all those things on other abilitys so its kinda like 2+1+3+4+6

Look at the actual wording on the card Martyrdom, and then when you cant figure out what it does, look at the oracle text
