Continue- so if you have other areas you need to work on they will report on it all

Continue - it’s valuable experience to help you pass the next test, you know how you handle test conditions better. Test should only be terminated if there was a seriously dangerous mistake made

I would rather not be told and continue. I paid for the test so might as well complete the whole test regardless of if I failed at the start of it or not!

I had a nervous learner do a serious at the start. But the rest of the test was perfect, including doing perfectly several times over the thing that gave her the serious fault. She passed as the examiner chalked it off as nerves. He did let her know how lucky she was, though. Examiners are human too.

Continue. I failed my test in the first 5 mins, but carrying on and seeing my results of the minors etc helped give me confidence and know what to work on for the next time.

It's much better to continue because you get more feedback about where your weaknesses are, based on the number and type of faults you get, so you will know what to work on before your next test. Plus it's extra practice.

In South Africa, the tests are done in 2 parts. The first is 'in the yard' where parallel parking, reverse parking, turn in the road, and hillstart are tested. After that is a usual driving test on the road. If you fail the 1st part, you don't get to do the second. ("At least I got out of the yard!" is a common phrase said by those who pass the first and fail the second). So your test either ends at the end of the 1st or 2nd part.

Continue but with live feedback from examiner for the rest of the test

I passed my test at the third attempt, and on each of my fails the test carried on without a murmur from the examiner, apart from the prescribed words. I would much prefer to be able to carry on with the test - a few more miles under your belt has to be a positive 🎉

This happened to me. I would want them to continue as I get stressed by the examination process, so it helps test my other skills.

Question: how do you handle nerves as a driving instructor? Does having controls on your side help? How do you debrief? When do you decide to debrief then and when do you decide to debrief later?

I'd rather stay so I can still find out how I did in all other areas

I’d rather be told the second I failed, doesn’t waste mine or the examiner’s time

Continuing would probably be best so I could get more of an idea of areas I need to improve in. Have my test on Tuesday so will see what happens, your videos have been so helpful, thank you.

Of course I would love to continue. I did my practical very recently, even when I thought I failed the test, I passed with just 2 faults. I was nervous all through and did I say it’s a part 2 ADI test? Advanced driving is not for the faint hearted. This channel is one I don’t joke with.

Continue with the test as you can learn so much from the full test as to what will be required and the experience is invaluable .
I failed first time , although I didn't know doing the test what part/parts I failed on, passed second time . The extra driving lessons I took with the same instructor I believe made me a better driver .

Continue — it’s all a learning experience anyway!

Continue. Even if we the learner knows or not, I think it's better as you could end up doing something similar later on which you can fix on
