One of the main reasons why I started a home Garden is because you get 100% nutritional value from the vegetables we grow at home.

If you buy vegetables from the store, you get less unhealthy vegetables with a low chance of percentage of nutrition value in them

Store-Bought vegetables are normally cheap, empty and not tasty or healthy at all..

When you harvest your vegetables within 4 to 5 days it starts to lose its nutrition value. So make sure to wash, eat right away or freeze them to keep them healthier for a longer period of time..

Start growing your own vegetable garden at home so you could eat better and save a lot more money..

Absolutely. So much flavor and I feel satisfied after a meal and I eat less. Meat and potatoes kind of person. I'm stronger. 75 years old and grocery "shop" in my backyard for fresh organic -veggies.

You're right! When I was growing up my grandmother had a vegetable garden in the backyard--tomatoes, cucumbers and collard greens. So good!

Wishing I had a garden at home now. I grew up in the countryside and my family planted their vegetables. So much healthier. Nowadays even the "organic" veggies in the supermarket look nice, but awful (black ) inside. Nice video πŸ‘

Great looking swiss chard! And πŸ’― freeze properly to enjoy that nutrition later. P.S. Taking a bite of that stem when you pick it is so healthy. I often eat breakfast in my gardens

Hi. I am a garden advocate. Wish l could showbyou the huge melon l picked yesterday
I don't remember planting them, maybe volunteer. Here in Houston Texas its been awful dry. 90+ since May, next few days 89°. And yet somehow l have had arugula and radicchio. Beans, eggplant, peppers, okra, more. Water conservation is critical. Deep layer of grass and shredded oak, compost. And madras cucs, long, huge cantaloupe. Not real sweet ir juicy but I'll fix that when they get blended for smoothies. Gonna have another fall crop by tomatoes. Last year was exceptional. Quite the status when you have beautiful ripe tomatoes in December. We could get a near mild freeze, 34, 33, just throw a few sheets over and clothespin to trellis. Well worth the effort til it warms back to the 50's. Meanwhile the fall winter crops will love the mild sunny days and cool nites in the 60's, hopefully will soon be 50's and some rain. The nicest, more loving gift you can give humanity is to grow food. Do it for your loved ones, your family, your community. Plant onions, beets, carrots and spinach. Watch some videos and build a few simple beds about 6-8" high. Border w free lumber from social media. Use top soil and fertilze w grass, keaf mulch. Build your soil inch by inch. The garden won't take care of itself but almost certainly you will not regret the effort. Are you paying taxes on an empty back yard? Why? Invest in your land and put it to use. Connect w us veteran gardeners. We usualyy gave extra seed and seedlings. Im in Freed Park, come and see me, leave me a note on the gate. Brenda. And start gardening now! 🌱✝

Swiss Chard leaves are sweet when picked small; when larger they need to be cooked because some people (like me) find them too bitter.
