Sometimes it’s easy to take your own city for granted due to everyday living, busy schedules, and routine. And that’s exactly why #1stLookTV’s “Day Trips from NYC” series is such a passion project for us: it’s all about exploring towns, hamlets, and cities — all easily accessible from New York City — through the eyes of someone experiencing them for the very first time.

Our first stop? Hoboken, NJ and we were pleasantly surprised by its beautiful waterfront views, charming parks, and warm, welcoming vibe. Known as Frank Sinatra’s hometown, Hoboken holds a special place in American music history...and there’s definitely no shortage of love for Ol’ Blue Eyes in this community-driven Hudson County town, as is evident by all the posters and statues dedicated to him. Another thing we noticed while walking around? Hoboken ADORES its coffee shops and there’s quite an abundance of wonderful ones to choose from whether you’re all the way uptown or closer to the Path station. We personally opted for The Hive’s scrumptious treats and beverages (they weren’t serving their notorious cinnamon rolls on the day we dropped by — we heard they’re fingerlickin’ good and sell out in a flash 😊), but definitely have to return to check out more of them! And we would be remiss if we didn’t shout out Zach from Tunes Hoboken for taking the time to offer some lunch recommendations and to Black Bear Bar & Grill + Erotori’s food truck for fueling us up for the bus ride home across the river.

Overall, Hoboken is the perfect escape when you want to experience something new (including cozy shops and calmer streets if you enjoy strolling around when the weather is lovely) without venturing too far.
