I'm french and really, speaking correct french (so school french) is still better than street french. Because street french (of the caliber shown in this video) is just bad french. Obviously, you don't have to always speak perfectly, and you can use shortcuts (saying '' m' '' instead of ''me'' for exemple (tu peux m'passer le sel ?) or not using the negative forms perfectly (j'en veux pas)). But speaking correct french will ALWAYS be the better choice, even more so for a foreigner who might not completely understand the nuances (if you can say that about street french) and just ridicule themselves or even insult someone (because believe me, it could happen. Really). Being polite is ALWAYS better than being impolite. Because remember ! Street french can NEVER be polite. Even will using ''vous''. It'll just sound wrong. Also, speaking street french doesn't always gives off the best impressions. So really, learn to mix the two ? That's the best advice I would say. That way you can speak comfortably with friends and not forget how to speak correct french for when you're working for exemple, because it could happen, and it happens to some french people.
