Kaixo!

I'd just like that the Basque language continues to perplex linguists as it's totally unlike any other language in Europe, and its origins remain more or less completely unknown.

( Kaixo , by the way, means "hello.")

As a Spaniard I'm surprised it was still active until 2018, this is either a mistake or that they existed with a very low number of operations because the actual terrorism ended in the mid/late 2000s.

Also around 35% supports independence but only a similar amount is against it, the most popular option is: I dont care please leave me alone.
In basque elections abstention is around 50% as most are just tired of decades of chaos and just want to be rich and left alone.

If you're ever annoyed about separatist movements in your county, just remember that atleast you don't have as many as spain

should've talked about the GAL and Franco's repression. Whilist killing civilians is unacceptable it would give more context as to why ETA happened.

The spirit of ETA is still very alive in basque society, ehBildu, the political succesor of ETA, still has FREED ex terrorists in its lists and it demands amnesty for the ones that are still in prison and constanty exhalts the memory of dead terrorists.Despite being a minority, the exercise a heavy presence in society and they intimidate anyone who defends Spain, a inherited habit from the years osf terrorism and the "Kale borroka" (street struggle) where street thugs aligned with ETA and their ideology used street violence to keep societal control without being in the goverment. Despite most basques believeing in the unity of Spain you will not see that very often in the streets of the basque region, because of their policy, the policy of fear.

The Spanish state was a fascist dictatorship until the late 1970's. Fighting fascists is necessary

Perhaps you should look at Irish history.

I would have included how many people Franco killed in the Basque region. I'm sure it pales in comparison to the 800 mentioned. Franco was Spain's Joseph Stalin.

I am form Navarre, one of the territories ETA wanted to include into "Euskalherria", my father lived during the time this terrorists were still making Navarre unsafe. They lived with fear, fear of being killed because of expressing their own ideology.
