This one surprisingly doesn't sounds as complicated as others featured in the series of weird rulings. Probably because this feels similar to how you can use Xyz Encore to detach materials from 5 mats Rhongo because it effect the materials and not Bhongo.

Funny thing about Reverse trap VS Light and darkness dragon ruling
-If you chain activate Reverse trap to LADD trying to negate something, the negate will happened and LADD gain atk/def. On new chain if LADD tried to negate something, it will negate and gain atk/def again but now the LADD will notice that it can't reduce it stats anymore so it won't negate anything after that so you essentially get 2 negate out of a trap instead of infinite negate.

I remember losing a game when I forgot to activate reverse trap. I think it was against wall of disruption.
Anyways, that was at the point where I was playing the pile.
I'm calling it that on a whim, and everyone should know exactly what I mean.

The gist of it is that Reverse Trap's effect is basically "replace + and - with each other" instead of the qualifying effect "+/- ATK/DEF"

I wish Reverse trap could be used in the damage step. So many cool combos could be used!

That makes sense in the same way you can equip your opponent's monsters who aren't affected by other effects (monsters/spells/traps) to your own monsters with certain cards like Majestic Mirage because you target your own monster for the effect and not theirs
