Well, yes, that's because there are many chords sharing similar notes among their 3rd, 5th, and 7th tones. So, by changing their root note in the bass, you get different chords while keeping the rest the same.
A good example of this is "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" by Green Day, which uses G major, Cadd9, and D major. But you can also use Dsus4 to keep it more consistent with this concept.

I started as a bassist, and I taught myself guitar thru making millions of mistakes. I’ve still got billions to make. But It kinda clicked for me by seeing the neck as two halves of three strings each. The jangle jangle high strings suggesting chord shapes. And moving the chord progression by using those old familiar bass strings for the low 3. It developed into a style that suits me very similar to your demo, only you’re..y know…actually good. 👍
