This video shows you how to open a stuck closed fuel door and how to replace the broken fuel door spring. Most Toyota and Lexus fuel doors are flat wire spring loaded. The door, under constant pressure from the spring, is ready to open when the driver pulls on the fuel door release lever located on the bottom left of the driver's seat with the trunk release lever. If the door does not open, it's more than likely the door spring has broken. Until that spring is replaced, the door can be opened by placing a plastic card (like a credit card) between the outer edge of the fuel door gap and the quarter panel fuel door opening.
