This is BIG- Really BIG!! #sponsored ‪@catconstructiontrade‬
CAT just came out with their largest CTL ever.
I got a chance to run this all-new 285 and it’s massive.
It weighs in at over 13,000 pounds and has a lift height of 146 inches- that’s over 12 feet.
The 285 has 111 horsepower and the XE version has 134 horsepower.
On the undercarriage- the drive motors are mounted on directly to the frame so there are no exposed hoses.
And similar to a dozer, it has an equalizer bar.
You can see here how it allows the right track to pivot down lower than the left track.
Next, I tried loading a truck with it. Even the bucket on this thing is massive.
Check out just how much clearance I had above the side of this 735 haul truck.
There’s some cool new accessories available as well- to start with you can get auxiliary fuel tanks for an additional 22 gallons of fuel, there’s rear hydraulics for an optional 18,000 pound winch, or my favorite this scarifier.
I could’ve totally used this on my last project cutting in a pad on compacted ground.
Let me know in the comments, is the 285 too big or not big enough? ‪@hausplans‬

I would buy two, one to work the other to ride to get groceries

No exposed hoses. As a mechanic those words strike fear into my heart

You're going to need two. One for you, and one for the New Guy.

Put it next to a standard skid steer so we can see the size relative to more common skids.

I have operated many skid-steer’s. I also built Bobcats. This is genius! 👍

I remember when we built the 446 backhoe loader in the mid 1980s. It too was big. This one though makes sense. It has dozer features. Love it

That’s freakin DOPE. Good improvements and seeing those giant saddleback tanks is nuts. Basically can fill it Monday, be good till Wednesday/Thursday depending on how much you use it

The original Bobcat design was built to muck-out chicken coups. How far they've taken the design today is amazing. A unit that size would be out of place on a farm where petite and nimble, low height and still tall reach are the best performers. Working inside the barn without knocking the beam and gates down scooping poop.

I think it's the perfect size and has lots of Muscle. I can see the New Guy running it. I Love the tracks can run at different levels.
