I rate my WWII shooters by the ching sound the M1-garand makes.

it doesn't effect accuracy all that much, you get used to holding the gun a certain way and dealing with the weight distribution and kick while in the position. (one on my grandpas friends shot bolt actions like that and its the same thing a asked him)

during world war 1 the lee Enfield had such a high rate of fire that the Germans thought the British were firing machine guns at them

Once you train your middle finger to pull right accuracy is the same. Your support hand holding the rifle into your shoulder supports the rifle. Your firing hands can cycle the bolt without having to take the rifle off your shoulder.

For anyone looking to get into marksmanship, starting with an old bolt action rifle is a great first gun. Mauser clones and Mosins are fairly affordable (400-600$) and ammo isn’t too expensive, but it’s very fun and challenging to practice with old iron sights. My first rifle was a VZ-21 rifle and I still shoot it to this day.

Edit: and if you’re not in the U.S., bolt action rifles are still legal in many other countries as well

There was an instance in recorded history where a squad of english riflemen shooting with the mad minute style so fast, the germans thought they were being suppressed by an mg nest.

That middle finger on the trigger technique specifically was developed by late WW2. British soldiers would be taught it in boot camp and be sent through a CQB firing lane with pop up targets as part of their marksmanship training. The idea was to teach them how to fire quickly and accurately with a bolt action rifle in a fast moving war with close engagement distances since they didn’t have a semi auto like the Garand!

Didn't that Sniper in Saving Private Ryan does this too? Kinda cool that it's actually a historical bit..

Pretty cool but most shooters the bullet comes out of the head not the barrel, almost every game misses this

Six Days in Fallujah does these kinds of things

Mad minute wasn't intended for accuracy. It was intended to suppress an enemy before advancing.

I don't like that they include that, because in actual British battle doctrine, they never did that. That technique was meant for Mad Minute drills on the firing line, never in combat.
