It's a tool. Making statements like "professionals only use X", is probably the fastest way to reveal immaturity in any field.

Kali is completely fine. I’ve been a professional pen-tester, red teamer, purple teamer, DFIR, and blue team. It covers a lot of bases and it’s really easy to train new staff and standardize everything. Stop gate-keeping the security field.

And I appreciate that he is talking about stuff as if we have ZERO experience. Because I actually do have ZERO experience but I'm excited to learn about all this stuff

Kali linux and net hunter are beginner friendly good and easy.
Saying stop using kali linux it's not good is like saying stop using python it's not good.

Being good for beginners doesnt make it bad for advanced users. Used tons of Linux distros so far, and yet id say Linux Mint Cinamon is actually one of my personal favourites, even if people mostly recomend it just for people coming from Windows. Its fairly lightweight, looks great, easy to navigate, needs little configuration, and does anything any other distro can do.

The best OS is the one that works for what YOU need it for. Who cares, Win, Linux, Mac- The only question that should matter is, Will it work for me? If the answer is yes, well then its the best OS for you at that time.

Dont matter if Kali is Great or trash, what matters is that it works for you, if it don't, go watch someone else videos. Sad to see you go but bye.

Kali is Debian based and very user friendly once you get a start with terminals. Software compatibility is great for the Debian base. You can also mod or add software.

In general:

* Beginning: Kali
* Intermediate: Parrot
* Advanced: BlackArch

The rolling release nature of anything Arch-based combined with how few keystrokes it takes to install things with Pacman as opposed to APT is why I personally use the latter, but there are cases where you want a more stable kernel, etc. and in that case the former 2 might be better.

Yesterday, I scheduled a pipeline on Windows. Your old video on WSL helped me download Kali Linux from the app store and schedule my script with crontab in 2 minutes. Kudos to you and Kali!

It does not depend on the OS, it depends on the type of person. If you like red hat fedora for hacking, go do it, if you like garuda for hacking, go do it, I prefer kali.

kali and Parrot are frequently used because they have a good collection of pre-installed software besides that you can also work with Ubuntu or any Debian-based system or totally different distro

Kali and Parrot are both pretty beginner-friendly. Parrot is actually used on HTB’s pwnboxes from what I remember.

I finally got fed up with Microsoft's continual cycle of required updates and switched to Linux this year. I wanted Parrot but had trouble getting Wifi on it, so I, who had never used Linux before, wound up with Kali. There's certainly been a learning curve, but I am enjoying it, yes, even using the terminal and coming to find it slick. I'd love to master some of the tools included with it, but that's for another time.
