1️⃣ You need any skates 🛼
Don’t find excuses just start with what you have and then if you like it you may always upgrade your gears📈
👩🏼 I’ve started with fitness skates and was able to do 20 first tricks on them 😜
⬇️ TIP: If you need to buy new skates I can recommend FR models FR1, FR2, FR3 or FRX from @frskates. Those are very good for beginners-intermediate slalomers and also perfect for enjoying skating in the city 🏙️
2️⃣ You need cones 🔺
If you don’t have profesional cones you may start with anything from plastic drinking cups or drawing marks by chalk 👀👩🎨
We use 20 cones, but you can also start with 10 :)
What’s the distance between the cones?🔺
50cm, 80cm and 120cm. The most used is 80cm 😇
PRO TIP: You can draw line of 80cm and put every second cone if you just starting 🤗
⬇️ If you’re wondering which cones to buy 🤔 Here are my favorites I use for years from @frskates they have so many cool colors and dual density with soft top from @sebaskates.
3️⃣ Find smooth and flat surface.
You don’t need that much place at the beginning as you can use only few cones, but make sure it’s safe area where you can enjoy learning new skills 🙌
4️⃣ Start with basic tricks like fish, cross and snake ✨ I’m showing them on my stories 🛼
5️⃣ Banana set up 🍌
You can start without it but it’s worth knowing that in slalom not all of our wheels actually touch the ground 🤯 We use banana set up which means our middle wheels are touching the ground while first and last is not. Thanks to that it’s so much easier to turn between the cones 🛼
There are two options to get this set up:
1 - buying special rockered frame which automatically position wheels in that way (some skates have it already so you can ask about it while buying new equipment)
2 - simply use smaller wheels in front and back ✨ For example 76mm wheels in the middle and 72mm as first and last wheel ☺️
Let me know which point was the most interesting for you 🤗
💃🏼 and send this post to your friend who wants to start freestyle slalom 🤗
