Ronnie is actually showing how much easier wet sand is to drive on vs dry sand and how an extra 500kg in the back will hold you up.
Anyway, another quality comparison from captain chaos

Agreed it is pretty darn good and handled the climb. Im wondering how much is due to the modern electronics as well 🤔

I drove one for the first time last week brand new and it had an engine vibration that sounded like my mums old 1998 Toyota Corolla

both are really impressive in my opinion. But when it comes to sound I’d prefer the V8, but fuel economy the 4cyl might make more sense ..

That looks like Bornholm. Take the same car down that track on different days, and you'll have different results. Getting out of that track is virtually entirely dependent on conditions (heat, moisture, track wear). When I had an ifs ute, I noticed that some days I would have to let the tyres down to about 5 psi on the main hill, and other days 12-15 would get you out no drama.

V8 with my heart but 2.8 makes practical sense I thought…

I own a 2021 1GD 2.8 auto in an arctic trucks converted hilux here in the UK and I’m having warn timing chain issues with only 80,000km’s
The V8 is built way better for longevity in my experience

Honestly I'd prefer the 2.8. It's cheaper to actually run, and does what it needs to do.

Ok the 2.8l is awesome, but the V8 is the V8 🔥
However In New Caledonia we have a 4.2l 6 cylinder

Try doing it in a jimmy and then you can confirm that it is all about weight not power:-)
