As a technologist too for 33 years how about a fully functional Linux or Windows PC that boots from a thumb drive that you can then mount the gorilla file thumb drive to and have a fully functional PC as long as you can find something with 2 USB ports to boot them. Even if it's a PC with an operating system you can tell the BIOS to boot from USB and then you would be isolated from the primary PC OS and data.

Terabyte hard drives in a broken microwave as a Faraday cage in basement. i have a ton of references and even a pile of youtube videos downloaded..all my music and user manuals and vital info. Always a work in progress.

I've copied a bunch my manuals and info to an older Kindle. I plug it in to a computer and load material that way. I have a lot of paper material, but having them all on the Kindle (and backed up elsewhere) works pretty well.
