These are the biggest mistakes that tourists can make in London… 🇬🇧👇🏻
📌 Save this for your London planning & check the link in my bio for my London guides or comment free guide & I’ll DM you the link
🛍️ Shopping on Oxford Street - Whilst it’s one of the most iconic streets in London, Oxford Street isn’t the best for shopping. Head to Westfield, or Portobello Road Market instead.
🚇 Not using public transport or an Oyster card - London has an extensive public transport system that connects the city & is easy to use and pay for. Buy an Oyster card and top it up with credit for contactless access so you won’t be charged a foreign exchange fee if you live overseas.
🚌 Not catching the bus - The bus is even cheaper than the tube is at only £1.75 per ride.
🔭 Paying for observation decks - Prices for the viewing gallery of The Shard start at £28. Free alternatives include Sky Garden, Horizon 22 and the fifty storey high The Lookout.
✈️ Assuming the airport you fly into is close to central London - Whilst Heathrow Airport is 15 minutes on the Heathrow Express from Central London, London Gatwick, Stansted and Luton are all over an hour away from the city.
🏨 Staying in a hotel in Central London - London’s extensive transport network can mean that you can benefit from staying in a cheaper hotel situated in an area outside of Central London.
🎟️ Not visiting free attractions - London has countless incredible free museums and galleries, including the National Gallery, Tate Modern, Natural History Museum to name just a few.
🇬🇧 Thinking that London is the only destination in the UK - Whilst London is pretty great (ranked as the no. 1 city in the world actually!), so are a lot of other places in the UK! In a relatively short distance to London are the likes of Oxford & the Cotswolds. Further afield you have Manchester and Edinburgh.
🛗 Standing on the left on escalators - Make sure to stand on the right and allow people to move past you on the left hand side.
🚖 Taking a taxi from the airport - Although all of London's airports are quite some distance away from Central London, they're all well connected by public transport.
🚊 Using the tube during rush hour - This really won't be a pleasant experience for you as the tube will be very busy and full of commuters.
