This is so true! I really wanted Gabriel to let go of Emily and focus on raising Adrien.
But in the show, Gabriel not only failed my expectations, but also used Adrien whenever he realised he’s identity. Even though his descent as a villain started with sad and pitiful intentions, he changed little by little after experiencing power.
It was no longer about reviving Emily. He simply used Emily as an excuse to continue his fight for the miraculous. And by the time he realised that, it was too late.
His body was corroding from cataclysm, Natalie was dying from using a broken Miraculous etc. not to mention how Adrien would be heart broken after knowing he cataclysmed his own father.
But in the movie however, Gabriel doesn’t go down that path. His descent into a villain was put to halt before all that. He saw how injured Adrien had become as a result of his actions.
He realised in the movie what I wanted him to realise in the show. That he still has Adrien who Emily left behind. That he should focus on the present and not the past.
I don’t know if the movie Gabriel could also have turned out like show Gabriel of given enough time. But what I do know is that I love the movie because it’s ending is exactly what I wanted.
Gabriel giving up in Emily, Adrien and Marinette getting together and revealing their secrets to one another. A perfect ending.

Okay but the scene where he's laying on the bed, listening to music, and ignoring everyone is so relatable
