We are one body in Christ. Just as when we naturally know when a part or even multiple parts of our body are in pain, so does the members of Christās body know when a person is need of prayers.
Mary and the saints are perfectly united with Christ and His body. It just follows that they would naturally hear our prayers.

We ARE to pray to one another. That said, we also know the dead are alive in Christ Jesus; John 11:25-26. So it follows that we can, and SHOULD, pray with and to the Saints. The Church here on Earth, the "Church Militant" has direct access to the Church in Heaven, the "Church Triumphant". The Church has ALWAYS taught this; it's in the Creed: "I believe... in the communion of saints".

Brilliant, Keith your point reveals that unconsciously at least, those who decry prayer to Mary and Saints for intercession have far more faith in the power of the devil than our Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient God.
