Oliver was such a necessary piece in Barry's overall arc... He was the first one to truly see the speed Barry has as a bliss and is proud that Barry is the one to have it! Cisco and Caitlin first saw it as a novelty Thawne/Wells kinda saw it as a challenge Felicity saw another person close to her in peril Joe saw a responsibility over his son's shoulders But when Barry talks about time travel and everyone goes immediately for the dangers, Oliver smiles with wonder and calls it a second chance of making things right when needed (a line of thought that literally saved the multiverse when Oliver came up with the plan of stopping Crisis from ever happening). When Barry talks about how confusing and concerning it is to have power, Oliver tells him is a call to greatness. Oliver with all his suffering and darkness in him admires Barry's power and heart, calls him a beacon of hope, a guardian angel to his city (and, to me, his guardian angel as well). And in Elsewords not only we find out how Oliver envies Barry's life deep down, but also how he never ceased to be happy to see Barry succeeding, doing the best he can, running towards love and how he really admires Barry for what he is and how actually responsible he is with so much power. For a mentor and equal friend, Oliver turns out to be Barry's fan number 1!
