When you exercise, especially with weights, you create tiny micro-tears in your muscles. But don't worry—this is how muscles grow! Your body quickly repairs those tears, fusing the fibers back together and making them thicker. This process is fueled by protein and happens while you rest. The more consistent you are, the stronger and bigger your muscles get, adapting to the challenge.

Ok the micro tears aren’t the direct cause of hypertrophy, it’s simply a side effect and what really triggers it is mechanical tension, achieved by training close to, all of the way, or past failure

It also takes years. I still cant wrap my head around women who say if they do AN arm curl or bench press, they will suddenly explode in muscles and look ugly.

Isn't this the old and incorrect assumption? Muscles do not grow like this. This tearing happens but does not fuel muscle growth. Instead, the stimulation of failure of an exercise does. This signals to the body to build more.

Cap
There’s a certain kind of acid (lactic acids) that goes into the muscle that causes a tender, then a type of soreness that kicks off the healing process when the muscle has been overworked. It causes the muscle to grow because it’s your body actively adapting to the environmental pressure. The tears happen, but it’s the reason why rest is important, and it’s not the reason why the muscle grows, it’s the reason why it’s tender. The soreness comes from when your body is healing it, and what you don’t feel is when it grows.

That’s why resting is so important. The problem is that I put way too much much effort into resting and way too small into exercise
