There were reports of a competition between the F-104 and Lightning.
The lightning was faster in climb, faster at high alt, had better interception rate.
And manouvered better.
Only place it didnt perform better?

The Japanese F104 is slightly better. At 10.3, you get AIM 9 Ps, and it rarely gets uptiered or even put at its own tier
